New year new you, or are you already feeling the January blues (ooh, it rhymes)
I don’t know about you, but January is a difficult month for me. Once the excitement of the New Year has waned and the reality of trying to achieve New Year’s resolutions hits, it can be really hard to stay motivated. In London, England, January is a cold and dark month, and these two factors alone are enough to keep me in bed longer than I should be.
So if you’re anything like me and you sometimes find it hard to beat the January blues and stay on top of your goals in 2022, then read on. I’ve written something in this blog post for everyone regardless of what career stage you are in. Apply the key points in this blog post, and not only will you discover new gems. But putting these steps into action will help you make real career progression.

How to Start Your Job Search
Do you hate spending hours searching for job listings yet still not being sure what you want to do? Or maybe you’ve found your dream job, but the requirements listed makes it seem impossible to land the job.
Read on because you are in luck. I’ve developed a new way of supporting Job Seekers to land jobs they truly want and with a salary that they are happy with. This process starts with revamping the whole job searching process. It is vital to start there so that you have more clarity and vision when you’re job hunting. Clarity and Vision are the two fundamental factors that can make finding and landing your ideal job more manageable.
When you search for jobs with more clarity, you will better understand the key job requirements and what you need to do to make yourself an attractive candidate. And once you know this, you tailor your skills and experience in your CV/Resume or application form to mirror the role’s requirements. The secret sauce lies in the tailoring as this helps you to position yourself as the ideal candidate. And down the line, you can use this positioning to negotiate an even better salary.
I am currently creating an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide that I use with my clients. It’s a downloadable PDF that breaks down each step involved in the job searching and positioning process. This guide takes away the guessing and saves you hours of searching. And if followed correctly, may help you find and land your dream job. So please consider signing up for our newsletter if you think you would benefit from our guide. We’ll let you know about it as soon as we have it ready.

If You Are Underearning, Here’s How to Fix It
I have a friend that would tell me how much she hated working two, sometimes three hours overtime days on end without getting paid for this. Guess what I did? Of course, I helped her find a new job, a better position with better pay—a job where she is valued and compensated for her time because her time is not free. If you are working, you should be compensated for your time and at a rate that you are happy with. I work with all my clients in this way. If you have a job and your goal this year is to raise your earning capacity or maybe increase your salary by charging more for the work you produce, I’ve got you.
First, read this blog post that sheds light on the truth about underearning. After reading the blog post, deciding what you would like to earn is fundamental. Your desired salary needs to allow you to live comfortably in your location. But there are other considerations, like what you need to retire well. And even what type of salary would allow you to achieve your financial goals in X amount of years. Knowing these numbers is crucial. Because it highlights what types of jobs and industries pay your desired salary and what the entry requirements are. The numbers also help you focus on your goals.
Second, work backwards and break down the steps to achieve your goals. Make these steps very simple. Think through how you will accomplish each step and what actions you need to take.

Want to Get a Promotion?
One of the keys to getting promoted or headhunted for a better job is growing your network. I’m talking about your network inside and outside your current organisation.
Take LinkedIn, for example. Most people understand that LinkedIn is a networking platform
used for professional networking and career development. But how many people know that there are thousands of recruiters searching profiles every day. Let that thought sink in for a moment; let me repeat it. There are thousands of recruiters searching LinkedIn profiles looking for people to hire, people like you. Their job is to search for key information to find suitable candidates for employment. And guess what, when they headhunt you, you are in the best position to negotiate your dream promotion.
If this is the case, why not make it easier for recruiters to find you by fully optimising your profile. You optimise your profile based on keywords within your industry.
You will also need to ensure your profile has key indicators turned on. And is structured correctly and has the correct features showing. But these are things you can quickly learn how to do with our guide.
With platforms like LinkedIn, you do not need to waste time filling in job applications or go through a crazy interviewing process. Having followed the steps in our simple LinkedIn optimisation guide, people have gone from earning four, five figures to negotiating six figures. And for profiles that are fully optimised, this is happening every day. We are currently working on a LinkedIn optimisation guide, so please consider signing up for our newsletter if you think you would benefit from our guide. We’ll let you know about it as soon as we have it ready.

Another favourite of mine is journaling. Start journaling your dreams and goals because something amazing happens when you put your dreams down on paper. Take this blog, for example. It was once an idea until I started putting pen to paper and brainstorming. Not only does journaling help to get ideas out of your head and therefore makes them more real. But visually seeing your goals in a journal better helps to process them. It can also help you be more accountable to yourself. There are so many ways I use journaling to grow my mind and my thoughts. Use this link to see my favourite journal for 2022. I found this hardcover vegan leather journal from Beechmore extremely helpful for getting my thoughts onto paper.
Summary
Regardless of where you are in your career journey, you can always do simple things to elevate your growth. You can use our helpful resources to speed up that growth or make the journey easier. I hope you found the above points helpful. Now shake the blues goodbye.
